Tuesdays are 3 AI updates, one hot take, one action. Fridays are 1 practical real estate agent workflow.
I was honored to be chosen to lead the CMO track for the massive Agent as a CEO program as part of the Compass free coaching month coachingatcompass.com/ceo. My first class is this Thursday and rumor is that over 10,000 agents signed up! Hope to see some of you from this email list there.
Since Compass has Gemini embedded in their corporate ecosystem I’m focusing this issue on recent launches from the Google team. I went through what the lab shipped and ranked it on one question: what can a working agent do with this in the next few days.
Gemini launched their Customize page where you save your own instructions, connect with apps, and add skills. This is something Claude has had for a while but Google has put it’s on spin on the features. Access it in the left menu of the Gemini app. Just click on Customizze and you’ll see Connectors and Skills as well as a simple discover page that combines all the customization options. Things like Gems, Google's older version of saved instructions, start going away in November as they streamline things more with this paradigm that most of us are used to. I'd take 10 minutes this week to write down how you want Gemini to handle the one task you retype most.

Gmail's AI Inbox pulls the to-dos and deadlines out of your email threads. This new embedded feature lists the action items, deliverables and deadlines it finds buried in conversations and summarizes the topics you need to catch up on, which helps on the 40-message thread with your lender, the title company and your buyer where the one date that matters is in message 23. Per Google's post, it covers Business and Enterprise plans in US English, it started reaching early-release accounts on October 12, and everyone else gets it starting October 26. I'd treat the list as a second set of eyes and keep your calendar as the real thing. Open Gmail this week, look for AI Inbox in the menu, and check it against your messiest open deal.
Gmail Live lets you ask your inbox a question out loud and hear the answer back. On your phone you tap the new Live button in the Gmail search bar, allow the microphone, and ask something like when the inspection is on Maple Street, and it answers by voice and shows a card for each email it pulled the answer from. It only knows what's in your email, so I'd use it to find things and then tap the source card before you repeat a date to a client. Next time you're parked between showings, try it on a deal you know cold and see whether it gets it right.
HOT TAKE
AI keeps rewarding the agent who already runs a tight ship. An assistant that reads everything is no help when the deadline lived in a phone call, the voice note was never transcribed and the client notes exist only in your head. I'd spend this week building the basics to ingest the key data in your business - email, texts, etc instead of shopping for one more tool. The best new feature in your account is the habit of putting things into your database (or in writing) so that things can be accessed by AI later.

1 THING TO TRY
Open the Gemini app and tap Customize in the left menu to see whether it has reached your account. Click the “match your writing style” button to add a skill focused on how you like to communicate. If you connected your gmail then it should be able to start building that voice guide for you. This weekend I'll show you more ways to fast track the improvement of your outreach.
AI FOR RE AGENTS MASTERCLASS IS OPEN
This is my hallmark course and the most important thing I run all year. It's four, live online sessions, December 6-12, built around projects you finish as we go.
Declan, from the April 2026 cohort, put it this way: "Highly productive class, project based with real time results. Matt has curated a well chosen path for agents to implement the latest and greatest tools." Enrollment is open now, and 10% off Earlybird pricing is live.
